The Wax, Stone, Light Collection by Linde Freya Tangelder – based on five totem-like columns, each of different dimensions and composed of sculptural blocks made of blown Murano glass – serves as inspiration for various options to illuminate a broader selection of spaces.

Within the works of Destroyers/Builders an interaction between the furniture pieces exists in an overarching inspiration; found in architectural elements, materials or building techniques.
Linde Freya Tangelder, founder of the studio, strives for sensory relevance and cultural value in detail and on a larger scale. The works have a sculptural and architectural character, and balance between contemporary and traditional elements.
Inspired by architectural shapes, the furniture pieces highlight the field between industry and human, through diverse materials. Constructions are scaled down to human sizes, and translations result into sculptural gestures.
Both low and high end materials get re-valued, reconsidered and transformed. The interventions and finishes by hand, give these architectural objects a tactile aspect.
The contrast in materials, the touchability, and the human traces that are still visible in the object, explain the method of Destroyers/Builders.
The urge to situate the works in a spatial context, in which the specific architectural space will start a dialogue with the objects therein, is a main focus of the studio.
Integrations and relations between the context and the work, whether it is a sculpture, a furniture piece or an architectural fragment, result into inseparable connections between the disciplines.
Destroyers/Builders takes on projects that range from commissions to self-initiated projects, and extend across the realms of both architectural furniture and interior projects. The practice was founded in 2014 and is Antwerp based.

DETAIL
The cube-shaped modules that comprise the five pieces in the first collection were reinterpreted to bring to life new configurations: a pendant lamp and two appliques, one rounded and one with more linear shapes, carved from cut cubes. Made of Murano glass blown inside cast-iron moulds by skilled artisans, the blocks also retain the unevenness of surfaces hand-worked with wax that makes each piece unique.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
GLASS
Transparency and brilliance make glass, in its countless forms, a material especially suited to the construction of various types of design lamps. On a par with its elegance, glass is also known for its fragility, and, for this reason, warrants extra care in its maintenance.
- Care : For regular routine cleaning of glass lamps, we recommend use of a feather duster or soft cloth. Once the dust has been removed, we recommend cleaning with a detergent specifically for glass or mirrored surfaces. Then, polish the glass and dry it with a microfibre cloth to prevent spots or streaks on the surface.
- Prevention : It is crucial that you not use abrasive, corrosive, acidic or alcohol- or solvent-containing products. We also recommend cleaning gently, using a soft, clean cloth and avoiding anything abrasive that could risk scratching the surface.
ALUMINIUM
Aluminium is a strong, recyclable, flexible metal and, above all, very lightweight. All together, these characteristics make it the ideal material for the lamps in the Cassina Collection that must be durable and lightweigt.
- Care : To remove dust and fingerprints, we recommend using a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to remove any smudges.
- Prevention : To avoid scratching the surfaces, we recommend taking the utmost care when cleaning. We recommend avoiding the use of abrasive powders, very harsh products, like ammonia and acetone, furniture wax, acidic detergents, bleach and abrasive pads.
- Methods : To remove spots, simply use a solution of water and mild soap. For greasy spots, we recommend moistening a clean cloth with water and a glasscleaning product or mild detergent, taking care to rinse well.
STAINLESS STEEL
The Cassina Collection includes various types of metal lamps, a material historically dedicated to the construction of design furniture complements. Cassina uses AISI 304 stainless steel, a high-quality, practically impenetrable material that is hygienic and easy to clean.
- Care : To remove dust and fingerprints, we recommend using a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to remove any smudges.
