BISU BED
BISU
Bisu is the first cork bed in the world which is capable to join functionality, ethics of well-being and design. The absence of metallic components, the naturalness of cork, its antistatic properties protect the sleep from the destabilising action of magnetic and electrostatic flows.
In Bisu there is the essence of the OTQ brand: the quality of sleep becomes the quality of life. Therefore, sleeping on cork means losing yourself in the history of your land, places, memories, language, but also the sensorial and tactile features of the matter.
It means sleeping better to live longer. Sleeping better to live kent annos.

DESIGNER
It is the Sardinia island, a thousand-year old land of know-how and well-established dedication to production, where three generations of artisans of the company “Sud Legno” have been passing down the art of carpentry from father to son in an ever-lasting relationship of passion and quality, with consolidated regional and national customers (FortVillage, Hotel Giorico Carlos V), and an overseas business unit in the United States, specifically focused on the real estate market.
MATTEO CONGIU
OTQ was founded during this time lapse, an idea of innovation that mixes together a company experience of more than three decades and the project ambition of the young designer Matteo Congiu, the last link of the generation chain of the great family of “Sud Legno”. Matteo grew up inside the family-owned business, and has been combining his secondary-school education with the knowledge of the production phases of wood from the very beginning, training as designer at the IED of Milan.
During this period of time, he focused on the relationship between artisan technique and new technologies. He spent three years of intense and in-depth studies which resulted in a Master in digital fabrication in Milan, where he won one of the 12 scholarships bestowed by the collaboration between IED Milano and Samsung Italia.
Hence, a new opportunity for growth opened for the young designer, represented by business meetings and highly innovative professional exchanges. This turning point will lead to the creation – firstly from a theoretical point of view and then on a real business plan – of the OTQ project that, after its first presentation at the Salone del Mobile 2015, turned into a real business idea based on cork and its applications in the design industry.
Now, after an intense period devoted to the improvement of the brand and the scientific nature of OTQ, the product has been introduced on the international market with its first appearance at the trade fair of Cologne. This is a forward-looking challenge, which preserves the features of identity and the culture of innovation.
