Mmcité Solar Park Bench - Blocq Solar
SOLAR PARK BENCH - BLOCQ SOLAR
SOLAR PARK BENCH - BLOCQ SOLAR
A light touch with a firm grip on the sun. This is Blocq Solar.
A massive block placed on sharp points – such contrast soundly affects the public space. Instead of wooden slats, however, photovoltaic panels covered with durable safety glass are placed in the seat.
The panels power USB sockets for charging mobile phones and tablets, as well as devices for induction charging. This technological gem still retains the visual quality of urban furniture with an advanced design and is fully combinable with other elements in the space.
DESIGNER
DAVID KARÁSEK
Czech designer David Karásek (b. 1969) is a graduate from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, majoring in product design.
He is co-founder and creative director of mmcité, and the creator of a range of award-winning pieces of street furniture.
For me, design is about searching for a compromise between form and function. In free art you express your thoughts as forms. Design as applied art wishes to express itself the same way, but it must be functional at the same time.
Public spaces in a city are fascinating places where people and history meet. I am proud that we focus mmcité design right here. We can influence everybody’s taste, and we love that.
No exclusivity, genuine accessibility. For mmcité this is nothing short of a cultural mission. We highly value our cities, so we are always pushing to make them more beautiful.
