GUISE LAMPS
Wall, Ceiling and Hanging Lamps
Designed by Diez Office With
Guise Stefan Diez has discovered a new potential use for LED technology in contact with matter: The light emanates from the piece of glass, while the source remains invisible.
With this approach Guise achieves a magical effect and at the same time is fully functional. Because of the transparency of the glass when switched off the lamp almost disappears.
When switched on it expresses a luminous and almost magnetic presence. The wall sconce version with a different formal expression features a glass disk that gives off a perimeter glow where the Led light source is also hidden. When turned off it becomes fused with its background, when on it evokes a solar eclipse.
DESIGNER
DIEZ OFFICE
Growing up in a household of 4th-generation carpenters, Stefan Diez’s early bond with craftsmanship has profoundly shaped his development as an industrial designer.
Following his family tradition by training as a cabinetmaker, he went on to study industrial design under Richard Sapper at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. After returning to Munich to work with Konstantin Grcic, he founded his own studio in 2002.
From 2007 to 2014, he was professor of industrial design at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe (HFG), before joining the School of Industrial Design Lund, Sweden, in 2015.
In 2008, Stefan Diez established his studio in the renovated facilities of a former joinery, which provides the ideal platform for his unique combination of hands-on experimentation and technical know-how.
Led by curiosity and supported by a network of local craftsmen and specialists, DIEZ OFFICE is dedicated to transforming ideas into actual products with great diligence and proficiency.
Together with his team, Stefan Diez has been exploring a broad spectrum of design, creating award-winning furniture, tableware and accessories, in collaboration with internationally renowned manufacturers like e15, emu, Hay, Rosenthal, Thonet, Vibia, Wagner and Wilkhahn.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The glass is made of borosilicate. It is typical for the glass to have small air bubbles, some inclusions and tiny scratches. These do not affect the quality or the resistance of the glass. Sensor on the LED base
LIGHT SHADES
2260 & 2262 - GUISE WALL LAMP
Vibia presents a wall lamp that integrates the LED light with the glass and making it pass through in such a way that it becomes invisible and then allowing it to appear out of nowhere.
HANGING LAMP
2270
Vibia presents a pendant lamp where the light source is invisible, emanating directly from the material.
2271
Vibia presents a pendant lamp with two glass pieces where the light source is invisible, emanating directly from the material.
2272
Vibia presents a pendant lamp where the light source is invisible, emanating directly from the material. The light is equipped with a counterweight placed on the ground with a cable with plug for this reason it is not necessary to have a light point on the ceiling.
2275 & 2277
Vibia presents a pendant lamp with a horizontal glass piece where the light source is invisible, emanating directly from the material.
2282 & 2284
Vibia presents a suspended light fitting made of a single vertical piece of glass. The powerful and pointed LED source is transformed through its design into an even background lighting effect.
2288
The hanging version with a diameter of 40 cm, providing a nuanced and elegant light over work surfaces, dining areas and meeting tables.
GUISE CEILING LAMP
2292
Ceiling light. The larger diameter glass cylinder is held vertically, concentrating the light within a lower corona of light. The pattern of striations etched into the borosilicate glass irradiates a general light with a moiré effect of visual interference crowned by a fine halo. The light source is hidden by the upper black profile.
2294
Pendant lamp. The light is diffused in an almost invisible manner through the glass and only emerges through the striations etched on the surface, diffusing the light as if by magic.
2298
Pendant lamp. Thanks to the continuous striated pattern the pendant lamp appears to float in mid air.
COLLECTIONS
GUISE CEILING LIGHTS
The Guise ceiling lights collection is a Stefan Diez design. The light emanates from the lamp’s own piece of glass while the source remains hidden. When turned on it evokes a luminous presence that is both fluid and magnetic. Turned off the transparent quality of the glass is highlighted.
