The fixture emits a glare-free, soft and comfortable illumination.
The metal shade versions direct the light directly downwards and create a pleasant illumination due to the inner white painted shade and the reflection from the trumpet-shaped stem.
The opal acrylic produces a diffused comfortable light due to the translucent shade, the downward reflection from the inner shade and the reflection from the trumpet-shaped stem.

Verner Panton (1926-1998) is famous for his inspirational and colorful personality. A unique person with a special sense for color, shape, light function and space.
Over the course of his career, Panton introduced a series of modern lamps with personalities unlike any of his Scandinavian contemporaries. With remarkable faith in the unlimited possibilities of form, he worked successfully to create a new set of theories about light function and influence.
"The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination. Most people spend their lives living in dreary, grey-beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colors. By experimenting with lighting, colors, textiles and furniture and utilizing the latest technologies, I try to show new ways, to encourage people to use their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting."
Verner had a very clear attitude regarding his work and regarding shape, color and function. At the same time, he made conscious and brave use of different materials. His use of different materials often led to his contemporaries disparaging the 'timelessness' of his design. The great interest in his design today proves the opposite.

HISTORY
THE STORY BEHIND THE PRODUCT
The designer and architect Verner Panton (1926-1998) created Panthella in collaboration with Louis Poulsen in 1971. Panton’s figurative and playful design radiates his larger-than-life personality. Without compromising on quality or functionality, the world-renowned Dane continued to develop new materials for the colourful and captivating spaces that he created from his appealing designs.
Panthella stands out as one of Panton’s most significant design icons with its organic shape that mirrors the softest of light. With Panthella, Panton intended to create a light where both the stand and the shade served as a reflector, combining it with the organic shapes for which the Danish designer is known.
With its non-glaring light, Panthella serves as a beautiful example of Verner Panton’s brilliant ability to create atmospheric illumination. As a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Panthella design, the Panthella Portable Metal was introduced in 2021.
The Panthella Portable Metal is a down-scaled version of Verner Panton’s iconic Panthella Table lamp from 1971. Due to its iconic design and portability, Panthella Portable Metal is a highly flexible and charming little table lamp that can be used anywhere as it does not depend on a power supply.
In the metal version of the portable Panthella, both shade and trumpet stem are made of metal to provide a slightly different illumination experience compared to the opal Panthella Portable which has a translucent shade. The metal variants concentrate the light downwards towards the surface beneath the lamp to create a focused ambience.
The Panthella Portable Metal comes in four different powder-coated metal finishes, including White, Black, Orange and Pale Rose. This portable version of Panthella makes enjoying both the design and quality of its light easier as the lamp can be charged in advance via a USB port. When charged, the lamp is easy and convenient to move around to create an attractive and exclusive atmosphere on the patio during summer, in the al fresco restaurant or elsewhere where access to a power point is not available.
Its timeless and iconic design, accessible price point and size make it a superb gift as it fits easily into any interior. The Panthella Portable Metal lamp comes with a USB-C cable and has three dimming options. The USB adaptor must be purchased separately.
