Magisdesign Spun Rotating Chair
SPUN ROTATING CHAIR
SPUN ROTATING CHAIR
Designed By Thomas Heatherwick, 2010
Not just a new seat, a new concept in seating and sitting: Spun.
Its harmonious, dynamic and perfectly symmetric shape is reminiscent of a cotton reel, a top that spins on its axis or a vase thrown on a potter’s wheel.
A captivating contemporary sculpture when it is still, Spun becomes a comfortable, fun seat when it moves, a seat on which we can experience new sensations, rediscover the pleasure of rocking, turn 360°, and play with the world around us.
Born of Thomas Heatherwick’s creative flair and Magis research, this unconventional seat has already won one of the design world’s supreme accolades, the 2014 ADI Compasso d’Oro Award.

DESIGN
Thomas Heatherwick has produced a startling twist on conventional furniture design: a functional chair formed from a single profile rotated through 360 degrees. Spun displays Heatherwick’s flair for challenging rules and teasingly plays with the notion of a static piece of sculpture becoming a playful piece of design. When upright Spun is a sculptural vessel and it is only when it is lent on its side that the playful possibilities of its form come to light. Spun allows the sitter to swivel in a circular rocking motion, including being able to rotate in a complete circle.
PRODUCT CARE
We recommend using a soft rag, either dry or wet. When needed, use ph-balanced soap diluted in water. Do not use abrasive sponges as they may leave scratches. Avoid using acidic products, solvents and products containing ammonia. Periodic and correct maintenance allows the product to keep its original aspect and lengthens the duration of its performance.
