DESIGNERs
KAJSA & NISSE STRINNING
Nisse Strinning, designer of the String® System, was a Swedish architect born in 1917 in the northern part of Sweden. Nisse designed the first String® shelf in 1949 with great help from his wife, Kajsa Strinning.
The couple met while studying at KTH. Everything came about when the Swedish publishing house, Bonniers, announced a competition where they were looking for the perfect shelf. High in functionality, modern looking and with fair pricing. String® was selected winner and has been considered a classic Swedish design icon for decades.
The Architect couple Nisse Strinning (1917-2006) and Kajsa Strinning (1922-2017) debuted as designers with a humble plate rack using steel wire, a technique that would be refined over the years. In 1949, they created a Scandinavian design classic when the String® shelf won the Bonnier Folk Library competition.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
-Veneer and laquered wood surfaces
-Wipe the surface with a clean cloth made of non-abrasive material. Damp wipe with mild cleanser solution (pH-neutral 7-8). You can also make a cleanser of dishwashing liquid and lukewarm water. Make sure to put the cleanser on the cloth and not on the furniture surface, and do not leave the cleanser on the surface. Wipe the surface with the solution, then with pure water and finally with a dry cloth.
-Do not use ammonia or any hard cleansers since this can cause the veneer to come loose, or dissolve the lacquer.- Veneer with a thin lacquer or stained layer surface is to be wiped in the direction of the fibre with a dry cloth.
-Use furniture care resources without silicone, since it complicates the possibilities for future repainting.
