FAUTEUIL DE SALON ARMCHAIR
Designed by Jean Prouvé, 1948
Developed by Jean Prouvé, the Fauteuil de Salon is a typical example of the distinctive structural aesthetic of his designs.
The armchair's understated character suits a wide variety of interiors, and its ample upholstery and oiled, solid wood armrests emanate inviting comfort.
DESIGNER
JEAN PROUVÉ
Jean Prouvé completed his training as a metal artisan before opening his own workshop in Nancy in 1924. In the following years he created numerous furniture designs, and in 1947 Prouvé established his own factory.
During the ensuing decades, Prouvé served as a consulting engineer on a number of important architectural projects in Paris.
Due to disagreements with the majority shareholders, he left the company in 1953. He left his mark on architectural history again in 1971, when he played a major role in selecting the design of Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers for the Centre Pompidou as chairman of the competition jury.
Prouvé's work encompasses a wide range of objects, from a letter opener to door and window fittings, from lighting and furniture to façade elements and prefabricated houses, from modular building systems to large exhibition structures essentially, almost anything that is suited to industrial production methods.
In close cooperation with the Prouvé family, Vitra began in 2002 to issue re-editions of designs by this great French constructeur.

VOLO
Volo is a finely structured wool blend with a refined weave that gives it an elegant appearance. This expressive textile shows strong solid colours to full advantage while simultaneously offering pleasant tactile qualities. With its soft look and appealing texture.

Volo is a perfect fit for home interiors, but it is also well suited for use in the contract sector. Volo is available in 17 colours.
TRESS
Tress is a flat woven fabric with a lively appearance that derives from the contrast between its even structure and the natural melange of colours. The combination of yarns with subtly varied hues creates a harmonious and yet vibrant look. Thanks to its high wool content.

Tress is a durable, easy-care material with a home-like aesthetic that belies its suitability for use in demanding settings such as office environments. Tress is available in 22 colours.
LEATHER PREMIUM F
Leather Premium F is a relatively smooth cowhide leather with a flat grain and fine top sheen. It is dyed-through and lightly pigmented. Leather Premium F is processed with a tanning agent extracted from olive tree leaves (a waste product of the olive harvest), and the entire production process is carried out with the least hazardous chemicals in the smallest possible amounts.

This pleasantly soft, sustainably produced semi-aniline leather is available in a selection of 22 colours.
NUBIA
Nubia is a blended fabric with a very lively, natural appearance. Its fine substructure is interspersed with voluminous bouclé yarn, which gives the fabric depth and a soft, inviting touch.
ARMREST - SOLID WOOD
Wood is characterised by variations in grain, texture and colour, making each wooden furnishing a unique object. Vitra has strict quality standards for the woods selected for its products and uses wood from several trees for the manufacture of a single furniture object made of solid wood.
