Formandrefine Austere Trestle Folding Table Stand
AUSTERE TRESTLE FOLDING TABLE STAND
AUSTERE TRESTLE FOLDING TABLE STAND
Designed By Kristian Vedel

When Kristian Vedel was appointed professor at the Department of Industrial Design at the University of Nairobi, he found the classrooms were lacking functional furniture for the students. His trestles were the solution.
Their folding capacity makes them easy to store when not in use. Straight and clear lines emphasise the overall design, and it is evident that the design has been carried out by an extraordinary architect with a strong sense for the ergonomic and functional requirements of design.
Characterised by a creative use of materials, the remarkable corner bridle joints and distinctive polished metal fittings play an important role in marking the quality of the trestles and emphasising their subtle virtue.
DESIGNERS
KRISTIAN VEDEL
Kristian Vedel was a Danish industrial designer and part of the early Scandinavian Design movement.

Heavily influenced by Kaare Klint and the Bauhaus School, the Kristian Vedel Style was the “Classic Modern” with a creative use of materials and a strong sense of functionality and ergonomic demands. Kristian Vedel was also a pioneer in using an early form of plastic known as melamine in the 1970's. He died at the age of 80 in March 2003.

DESIGNER’S THOUGHTS
“The starting point for an industrial artist’s work must always be that he or she, from their own point of view and as objectively as possible, takes a position with regard to what they feel society and their fellow people need. They must personally take a stand on the existing possibilities and responsibilities.” - Kristian Vedel
CARE
- Step 1 : Clean the surface with a mild soapy water solution. Wipe the surface dry.
- Step 2 : Apply a neutral furniture oil with a soft cloth. Excess oil must be removed 30 minutes after application.
- Step 3 : Polish with a clean cloth until an even look is attained. The oil will not harden until after 12 hours. Do not cover any of the surface until the oil has hardened.
