A blend of delicate craftsmanship and lineal minimalism, it’s the distinct materiality of resin that plays the leading role in shape, opacity and colour selection in the Refract collection’s design.
With a hand feel of stone and a visual likeness to glass, the internal catalyst textures of resin allow light to shift and refract - like sun through seawater. The stacked lineal shapes that form the table bases take design cues from a wave set. The slabs each glowing at the tip and deepening in colour as each prism expands.

Hayden Cox is a multi disciplinary Australian designer best known for Haydenshapes, his eponymous performance surfboard company he founded at age 15. In August 2022, Haydenshapes launched their debut contemporary mens ready-to-wear collection exclusively available with fashion luxury retailer Mr Porter and via haydenshapes.com.
Haydenshapes award winning brand is sold all over the world in more than 70 countries and has offices in both Sydney and California.
His patented parabolic carbon fiber frame technology FutureFlex revolutionized surfboard design and influenced innovation globally in a way that has not been seen since the 1970s.
His Hypto Krypto surfboard model is said to be the highest selling performance surfboard in surf history and is a multiple recipient of ‘Surfboard of The Year’ across Australia and the USA where it continues to be a number one seller.
Synonymous with multi-faceted collaboration and a high-quality approach to product design, through his brand Haydenshapes Hayden has worked on global projects with prolific New York based artist Daniel Arsham, Alexander Wang, KITH, along with a recent announcement of a global partnership with The Woolmark Company.
Through his design ethos led by innovation, materiality exploration and contemporary construction, beyond surfboards, Hayden has been sought out and commissioned for leading projects across Interior Design (Blainey North for Crown Residences 2021), technical consumer wearables (Westpac 2018), high end sculpture art and fashion.
In 2020 Hayden was engaged by Akin Atelier to collaborate on realising their resin concept for the Gallery Shop, as part of the high profile architectural development for the Art Gallery of NSW ‘Sydney Modern’ project. The new wing of the gallery opened to the public December 3, 2022.
In August 2021, Hayden featured on the cover of Australian Financial Review Magazine prestigious annual ‘Design Issue’ (print), is a ‘Man of Innovation’ award recipient (GQ ‘Men of The Year’) and GOLD award winner (GOOD DESIGN Awards) for his patented FutureFlex carbon fibre frame surfboard construction. Hayden was recently selected by Apple to feature in the brands first Australian campaign for ‘Behind the Mac’, alongside the countries 24 top creatives, musicians, artists and designers. Hayden is an ambassador for IWC Schaffhausen along with Audi, in which he featured in the global 2023 campaign for the Audi Active Sphere concept shot in the Canadian Alps.

A collaboration between multidisciplinary surfboard designer Hayden Cox and SPØ1, ‘Refract’ an is an innovative resin furniture capsule collection made in Australia and exclusive to Space Furniture.

SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS
Due to the catalyst nature of resin, each hand crafted piece is one of a kind and will present its own unique characteristics. This includes things like internal waves, bubbles, and colour variation. These are not considered to be faults but represent the individuality of each item.

SHAPE
Like sun through seawater, the internal textures of the resin move and refract light blending material and shape causing them to interact within their space. CUSTOMISATION
Customisation such as dimensional changes or finishes (custom colour or polished finish) are available upon request. A surcharge of 20% applies on any type of customisation.

Every piece of SP01 is special. Together with our experienced craftsmen we combine decades of skill and experience to create beautiful and distinct products. While we strive to blend traditional production processes with next generation manufacturing, we accept that occasionally a product may arrive that does not meet our high quality standards.
It is important to us as a business that we don’t just promise quality, we guarantee it:
Therefore all SP01 products are covered by a two year structural and manufacturing warranty. You can find our general warranty conditions below. These are valid for two years from your date of receipt of goods.
All warranty claims must be made within 24 months from the date of delivery of your products and we ask that you advise us within one month of discovering or learning of the alleged defect.
You will not be entitled to make any claim against SP01 in respect of breach of any warranty or condition unless the claim is made within the relevant periods set above.
In the event that a product is proven to be defective, you are entitled to the restoration of the goods through repair or replacement, whichever is mutually decided as being the most efficient and effective remedy.
It should also be noted that the structural and manufacturing warranty does not cover:
- Breakage caused by negligent and/or improper use of the goods
- Changes caused by and considered to be normal wear and tear
- Damage caused by lack of and/or erroneous maintenance
- Damage due to an accident or excessive force
- Chromatic variations in any parts due to the normal ageing of the finish
- Degradation caused by extreme environments
- Wear and tear on fabrics and leathers is not covered under warranty
