Molteni Elain Armchair
ELAIN armchair
CLEO SOFAS
Designed by Vincent Van Duysen
Elain, is a cosy, curvacious, little armchair designed to fit easily into any setting.
Consisting of just two parts, a seat and a backrest, which come together to form a perfectly rounded object that invites you simply to sit down. Ideal for use alongside sofas also designed by Vincent Van Duysen, or even on her own as a comfy armchair or with a twin to create discreet little conversation corners.
Elain is not just a stay at home chair but one that loves to make an appearance in public hospitality spaces such as hotel or office lobbies.
Whether upholstered in quality textiles or in soft leather, Elain is always herself: a pretty, sophisticated little chair, featuring snug, welcoming lines, thanks to the padded seat and back.
DESIGNER
VINCENT VAN DUYSEN
“Protection is something very important that we all need and that is something that I want to translate into my architectural and design work”
Vincent Van Duysen was born in 1962, in Lokeren, Belgium and graduated in architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, in Ghent. From 1986 to 1989 he worked in Milan and Brussels.
He opened his own studio in Antwerp, in 1990 focusing on architecture and interior design. The relationship between interior design and architecture in his work is profound.
Furnishings and accessories are designed with an architectural perspective that is not limited by form, but is expressed with a careful perception of interior space and its relationship to the exterior architecture.
By interpreting architecture and redefining its proportions, Van Duysen creates objects of great purity and simplicity that still retain a concrete character and solid form.
Vincent Van Duysen Architects has authored many works including its first project in the Belgium hotel industry and numerous major international projects.
These include residential projects in London, New York and Milan, offices in Beirut and Riyadh, and top-range commercial spaces in Paris, Rome and Hong Kong. Vincent Van Duysen designed the Gliss Master cabinet system and the Ribbon bed for Molteni&C. “Protection is something very important that we all need and that is something that I want to translate into my architectural and design work”
