A meandering stream. The Typology ribbon bench is the flowing centerpiece, bridging all elements of the Typology Collection. 

It defines spaces, connects spaces, guides pedestrians, and can even form amphitheater-like semicircular hubs that encourage community interaction.

POWDERCOATED METAL 

Powdercoated Metal Pangard II ® Polyester Powdercoat is a hard, yet flexible, finish that resists rusting, chipping, peeling and fading. In addition to colors shown, a wide selection of optional and custom colors may be specified for an upcharge. All colors and patterns shown are approximate and may vary from sample and final.

PERFORMANCE 

On each modular segment, a thin layer of ultra-high performance concrete drapes like a mantle over cast aluminum supports to express an elegance, refinement and seemingly impossible lightness. Soft, rounded edges invite comfort and relaxation. Contrasting the smooth, radiused form of the concrete profiles, the cast aluminum supports and end caps-with faceted surfaces like cut gems-communicate heft, angularity and precision in manufacturing.

DETAIL 

The central gap between the two concrete profiles serves as a mounting point for optional backrests, armrests and extended functional surfaces to be implemented in strategic locations throughout the configuration. Emanating from within the ribbon bench, optional integral downward-facing lighting illuminates the space around the feature, creating an illusion that the entire structure almost levitates.

MATERIALS AND RESOURCES 

MR Credit 5, Regional Materials 

-To increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation. -This product is categorized as Furniture and Furnishings, Division 12. MR Credit 5 is to include only products in Division 2 – 10 of the (CSI) MasterFormat. At the option of the project, Division 12 may be included, but then must also be included consistently in MR Credits 3 through 7. -This product is manufactured in our Kalamazoo, MI facility, zip code 49048. Many of our suppliers are located within a 500 mile radius of this facility, but they may source raw materials from multiple sources. If the project is within 500 miles of Kalamazoo and you wish to consider this product for MR Credit 5, please contact Landscape Forms prior to order placement to explore the possibility of specifying regionally sourced raw materials.

FINISHES 

-All metal is finished with Landscape Forms' proprietary Pangard II® polyester powdercoat, a hard yet flexible finish that resists rusting chipping, peeling, and fading. -A wide range of standard, optional and custom colors are available. -MeldStone™ (Ultra High Performance Concrete): A highly engineered material that enables casting of lighter weight, thin profile forms with exceptional strength and high resistance to compression, bending, impact and wear. -MeldStone™ innovation includes chemistry, mixing, molding, and curing methods that allows a thinner cross section with higher abrasion resistance and lower permeability than ever before. MeldStone components are cast monolithic with integral color and rigorously tested for optimal performance. -Meldstone is available in three standard color options - natural white. natural ecru, or natural gray. -The finish of natural concrete surfaces is porous and has a unique texture when fully cured. Consequently, as compared to smooth mechanically applied finishes, the surface of this concrete finish will naturally exhibit some voids as well as absorb discoloring tannins.

SEATING SYSTEM 

- Lighting input voltage is 100/277.
- Benches do not ship fully assembled.
- Mounting for all bench styles is surface mounted.
- Lighting color temp is only available in 3000K CCT.
- Supports are cast aluminum with faceted appearance, and finished with powdercoat.
- All ribbon bench style includes optional integral, downward facing 7 watt lighting.
- Protrusions on the underside of concrete seat nest into supports with the use of fasteners.
- Stainless steel skate stops can be specified with all bench styles (up to six (6) per bench).
- Aluminum perforated screens finished with powdercoat are attached to the end supports to protect internal components and prevent the ingress of pests.
