ULTRALEGGERA CHAIR
ULTRALEGGERA CHAIR
Ultraleggera is a manifesto chair. Its final form and properties, implied by monomateriality, are like a lens concentrating complex issues from the fields of ecology, technology and economics.
When Cassina began producing the Superleggera chair designed by Gio Ponti in 1957, experiments with strength and lightness of structure belonged primarily to the world of architecture.
In their projects, such creators as Buckminster Fuller and Jean Prouvé raised the idea of the primacy of construction quality over form.
In 2019, Oskar Zięta decided to face the challenge of lightness again .in the design of a functional product. The result of his research is Ultraleggera, a chair that amazes with its featherweight and attracts with its charm

SUSTAINABLE MONOMATERIAL THINKING
The combination of a huge dose of imagination with the original FiDU technology resulted in a project that is not only surprisingly light but above all forms an innovative response to the challenges of the modern world. It owes its low weight to the fact that it is made of only one material, aluminium. ULTRALEGGERA thus follows the philosophy of Monomaterial Thinking and is fully recyclable. At the same time, it meets the premises of the Circular Economy. Made of 100% aluminium, complete recovery of the aluminium is achieved thanks to the use of a single raw material alloy in the entire product. The frame, seat and backrest made of aluminium are joined with aluminium joints without any additional materials and without covering it with additional finishing layers.

UNIVERSAL DESIGN
Above all, ultraleggera is a stylish and timeless piece of furniture, a contemporary metal chair of a minimalist shape. Thanks to its lightness and durability, it is a product suited to both private and public spaces, such as healthcare institutions and office spaces. Last but not least, its universal form fits spaces in every style, from classical apartments to industrial lofts.
MINIMALIST FORM – SURPRISING QUALITIES
The ultraleggera chair is a mono-object, an essence of contemporary, innovative design that focuses not only on the form and function but also on the object’s future. It is a piece of furniture that was created both from the need to face the material itself and from the desire to emphasise its unique aesthetic and functional properties. This minimalist seating’s structure was designed to give an impression of a standard solution.
However, when the user comes into direct contact with the product, the chair surprises with its lightness and stability. Equally, the lightness is a metaphor of its eco-friendly, recyclable aspects that make it part of the trend for sustainability and care for the environment. Moreover, it is ultra-durable. Tests performed by Zieta Studio proved it can endure a load of a stunning 1208 kg.
