SYSTEM
Bento Corten fire pit offers your choice of two burner styles: a manually-lit version with the standing pilot and a safety thermocouple or electronic ignition that may be controlled with a wall switch or wireless remote. Corten fire pits are pre-weathered to provide even patina coverage. Paloform fire pits are certified for use with town gas or bottled propane in the UK and EU.
COLORS
HAND CAST CONCRETE
Paloform’s high-performance concrete is a proprietary blend of local materials designed to balance aesthetics, durability and sustainability. Our individual tints are derived from earth oxides, but concrete’s overall colour comes from the cements and aggregates that are used and is minutely influenced by the mixing process and curing conditions. This ensures that every fire pit is unique and is imbued with a rich complexity. Colour variation is one of concrete’s intrinsic qualities, so no single sample tells the whole story. Our concrete six fire pit colours represent a broad, balanced range to complement contemporary design: rich and organic; sophisticated and restrained
METAL
With our choice of metals, we seek to harness each material’s intrinsic properties – and aesthetics. Corten (COR-TEN) or weathering steel is an alloy that develops a stable rust-like oxidation on its surface when it is exposed to the elements. This layer, which continually regenerates, provides a no-maintenance finish that protects the steel from corroding. Paloform corten fires are pre-weathered to provide more even patina coverage while still allowing for natural colour and texture variation.
STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel is used to top our Robata Concrete fire pits and provides a clean, modern finish that contrasts and complements the soft, organic aesthetic of cast concrete. This provides a functional surface that doubles as an outdoor coffee table. Komodo and Fold are available in Corten as well as outdoor powder-coat finishes, which provide solid, vivid colour and many custom options.
TOPPING MEDIA
Paloform’s topping media have been selected for their balance of aesthetics and functional performance. When placed correctly, the media enhance the appearance of the flame and complement the other fire pit materials. River rocks are actually honed basalt. Volcanic in origin, these stones do not share the same explosive characteristics of other types of stone. Likewise, lava pebbles and featherock are also sourced from volcanic lava fields. Glass media are recycled, crushed or reconstituted from old tempered panes. For reasons of function and availability, not all fire pit toppings are available for all models. Please see product pages for details.
