DESIGNERS
MANEL MOLINA, JEANNETTE ALTHERR & ALBERTO LIEVORE
Lievore Altherr Molina was founded after the meeting of architects Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr and Manel Molina.
Coming from different countries and professional backgrounds, they have been able to integrate their individual approaches into a unique and recognizable style. Alberto Lievore was born in 1948 in Buenos Aires; he obtained his degree in architecture and founded the Hipótesis workshop, where he designed and built furniture.
After moving to Barcelona in 1977, he founded the Berenguer group with Norberto Chaves and designers Jorge Pensi and Oriol Pibernat. In 1984, he opened his own office. He was joined by Jeannette Altherr and Manel Molina in 1991, creating Lievore Altherr Molina.
Jeanette Altherr was born in Germany in 1965 and began her training in industrial design in Darmstadt. She ended up in Barcelona in 1989, where she met Alberto Lievore. Born in Barcelona in 1963, Manel Molina graduated in interior and industrial design at EINA.
He worked on his own until he met Alberto Lievore, joining the firm. In 2016, Molina left the office, then named Lievore Altherr, and later evolving into the design collective Lievore + Altherr Désile Park.
Since its beginnings, the multidisciplinary office worked in interior and product design, branding and packaging, consulting, and art direction for various companies, always offering customized solutions.
Their design strategy integrates product design and communications, an effective concept that has allowed the designers to collaborate with such companies as Arper, Andreu World, Vibia, Noorth, just to name a few.
Design by the Lievore Altherr Molina studio stands out for its balance and harmony between form and function, colours and materials, simplicity and elegance.
The firm’s extensive portfolio of products, many of which have won prestigious design awards, includes furnishings for public facilities and private homes from seating to lighting, decoration, carpets and upholstery. Their long and fruitful collaboration with the Spanish brand Andreu World has resulted in the Alya, Smile, Siesta, Manila chair collections.
For the Italian brand Arper, the studio created, among others, the Catifa line of waiting room chairs (2001); the Dizzie table collection (2005); Leaf indoor and outdoor seating (2005); the Meety meeting table; Parentesit office partitions and acoustic panel (2016). Also notable are the firm's creations for Poltrona Frau, Driade, Zanotta, decor for Sovet Italia and lamps for Vibia.
