It is a collection that captures the sophistication of minimalist shapes, enhanced by the skilled craftsmanship of blown glass.
Sabine Marcelis, known for her poetic and meticulous use of reflective surfaces and colour nuances, has fashioned a collection that radiates ethereal charm. This collection produces remarkable interplays of light and shade.
Lokum is available in rectangular and square versions in amber and smoky hues providing extensive versatility for standalone pieces or in conjunction with other items for customised configurations. Lokum is the tangible result of the Dutch designer’s ability to transform materials into works of art.
DESIGNER
SABINE MARCELIS
Sabine Marcelis is an artist and designer who runs her practice from the harbor of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After graduating from the Design Academy of Eindhoven in 2011, Marcelis began working within the fields of product, installation and spatial design with a strong focus on materiality.
Her work is characterized by pure forms which highlight material properties. Marcelis applies a strong aesthetic point of view to her collaborations with industry specialists.
This method of working allows her to intervene in the manufacturing process, using material research and experimentation to achieve new and surprising visual effects for projects both showcased in museums and commissioned by commercial clients and fashion houses.
Sabine considers her designs to be true sensorial experiences: the experience becomes the function, with a refined and unique aesthetic.
Her work has been acquired into the permanent collection of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and The National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, AU among others.
She has recently won the prestigious Elle Deco International Design award 2023 ‘Designer of the year’ and Wallpaper awards ‘Designer of the year 2020’.
Notable exhibitions include solo shows at the Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Pavilion and the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.
Her work has also been featured at the Vitra Design Museum. Group shows at Design Miami, Les Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Kunsthal Rotterdam.
Art installation commissions by Fendi, Dior and Noor Riyadh festival among others.

Made of blown glass coloured in a crucible. Available colours: smoked grey or amber.
PROCESS
Sabine Marcelis takes us inside the furnace where the Lokum table is crafted, illustrating the intricate glass-blowing process. This artisanal method demands great skill, using fire and air to shape the material. The designer highlights how the curved volumes of the Lokum interact with light, turning it into a sculptural element with a strong visual impact.

Gently rub down with a damp chamois leather or similar (water + a little neutral soap).
MARBLE PARTS
Polish delicately with a cloth dampened with water and neutral soap. Do not use alcohol or detergents.
FABRICS
Unlined and clean following the instructions on the label.
VARNISHED PARTS
Gently rub down with a damp cloth (water + neutral soap). Do not use alcohol or detergents.
METHACRYLATE PARTS
Rub smoothly with a dry dust-cloth. Use a damp cloth to remove fingerprints. Do not use alcohol or detergents.
LEATHER PARTS
Gently dust with a soft and dry cloth.
ALUMINIUM PARTS
Gently rub down with a damp cloth (alcohol only).
WOODEN PARTS
Gently rub down with a damp cloth (water only). Do not use alcohol or detergents.
CHROME-PLATED PARTS
Use any of the products currently available on the market for cleaning chrome-plating.
CRYSTAL PARTS
Polish with a cloth dampened with one of the glass cleaners normally found on the market. Do not use alcohol or cleansers.
OPALESCENT GLASS PARTS
Gently and evenly rub down with a damp cloth (water only) and then dry immediately with a soft cloth.
STEEL PARTS
Polish with a cloth dampened with water and immediately wipe with a dry cloth. Do not use brushes or sponges made of steel or scratchy materials.
