The fine craftsmanship inherent in the Aylon storage units emphasizes the poetically tactile qualities of wood and revisits the great cabinet-making tradition in a contemporary key.

The sophisticated workmanship that distinguishes the Aylon family of cabinets traces back to the heritage of cabinet-making typical of Italy’s Brianza area.

The sleek shapes combine with a taste for refined details, like the unusual workmanship on the doors, created through the use of turned strips of solid oak, with open pore Moka color lacquer finish, set into an elegant metal frame with a matt Pewter color finish.

The meticulous attention focused on each construction detail is also evident in the hinges, crafted from an exclusive Minotti Studio design. The hinges can be adjusted for height, width and depth and allow the doors to open 190 degrees.

The structure comes in glossy lacquer Sand, Clay or Granite finish. The Aylon series includes two sideboards, a cupboard and a living-space unit featuring a clever play of shapes, with a lateral projecting storage element.

RODOLFO DORDONI

The strategic collaboration between Minotti and Rodolfo Dordoni, architect and designer from Milan, began back in 1997 and ended in 2023, with his untimely passing.

Rationalist architect and professional with a multi-faceted personality, Rodolfo Dordoni met Renato and Roberto Minotti towards the end of the nineties.

The Minotti brothers immediately considered Rodolfo Dordoni’s cultural background, professional experience and sensitivity as an interior decorator the ideal basis for forging a strong relationship.

The challenge that faceXd them was to create a new vision of the company. So, in 1997, Rodolfo Dordoni presented his first collection of seats, tables and coffee tables, including Suitcase, the iconic cubic armchair freely inspired by the world of fashion and luggage-making.

A successful design, it was anti-conventional and rigorous, marking the beginning of a consolidated relationship that went on to span more than twenty years. The next year, in 1998, he was nominated Art Director and coordinator of all the company’s collections.

This marked a turning point that launched him on a pathway of continuous research, guided by the values of coherence, determination, passion and enthusiasm. Over the years, it led to the definition of a full range for the home, designed for both indoor and outdoor environments and for Hospitality spaces, fully interpreting the concept of “collection” and “lifestyle”.

Year after year, collection after collection, this collaboration has played a part in reinforcing the brand identity and in giving the collections a feel of exclusivity, carrying a strong message of quality and fine Italian craftsmanship all round the world, by innovating and creating continuity.

The collaboration also extended to designing the stands for the various editions of the Salone del Mobile in Milan and Shanghai and the fair in Cologne, as well as the creation of spaces such as the Minotti New York flagship store, opened in 2010, and the company showroom installed in the headquarters in Meda in 2012.

The architect’s many iconic indoor and outdoor furniture designs created since he began working with the company over 20 years ago were recently joined by some new additions - the Dylan, Goodman and Twiggy seating systems - all characterised by pure volumes, sharp geometries and a haute couture approach to sartorial craftsmanship - along with a myriad of furnishing solutions, small furniture and accessories.

DETAL

The interior fittings for each element were carefully designed to respect the function served by each piece. The cupboard was crafted for placement in the dining room and the luxurious interior fittings are exquisitely suited to this use – opening the door turns on the LED strip lights positioned in the upper shelf. The space is thoughtfully divided to accommodate a clear, beveled glass shelf for storing glasses and a pull-out shelf covered in saddle-hide, a cutlery drawer also covered in saddle-hide, and two generously-sized drawers designed to hold plates and other tableware items.

The sideboards are available in two sizes – with a center drawer and two side doors, or with two drawers and two side doors. Nestled inside the drawers is a saddle-hide covered cutlery tray. The structural base of the Aylon storage units, which rests on sleek, sophisticated metal blades with glossy Pewter color finish, was reinforced to ensure the utmost stability of each piece.
