CHAOS BOOKCASE
CHAOS BOOKCASE
Designed by Alessandro Guerriero
A steel sculpture whose curves suggest a new way of conceiving space.
DESIGNER
ALESSANDRO GUERRIERO
Alessandro Guerriero is someone who enjoys changing the rules. He's been doing so for over thirty years.
At least since 1976, when he founded Alchimia, the group of designers who gave shape and ideas to the Italian post-avant-garde.
Whether he needs to shatter a pattern, bend reality, or simply color a thought, Guerriero never holds back. He speaks with a vocabulary all his own.
A vocabulary in which the adjective to be placed next to the word "Design" is "Romantic" (that's how he called the theory with which he views his craft).
Guerriero's work is everywhere—from the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo to the Metropolitan Museum in New York—but his kaleidoscopic gaze has also landed on the most unorthodox spaces for architecture and design.
Alessandro Guerriero has reinvented magazines (such as when he edited OLLO – Rivista senza Messaggio in 1988), concerts, and theaters (with his set designs for Matia Bazar and Magazzini Criminali), prisons (with the Granserraglio Cooperative, composed of inmates on parole), and schools (founding the Domus Academy in 1987 and then, in 1995, the Futurarium in Ravenna, an educational laboratory where students learn about the "dissolution of disciplines"). He won the "Compasso d'Oro" in 1982.
Alessandro Guerriero was president of NABA, the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. He is currently reinventing the Sacra Famiglia workshops. To leave no one in peace, he launched the free Tam Tam school... Guerriero has been collaborating with Officine Tamborrino since 2016, for which he designed the O collection
