Designer Magnus Pettersen’s Leimu was inspired by modern architecture, specifically the combination of concrete and glass..
Pettersen wanted a beautiful interplay of warm and cold elements in what Pettersen called “industrial luxury.” Designed to mimic a flame, Leimu is a striking balance between sensitivity and strength.
The streamlined design features a delicate mouthblown glass shade and a solid, concrete base. Achieving the right balance between concrete and glass required the best experts at the Iittala Glass Factory.
Smooth to the touch, the handmade Leimu lamp reflects a soft, gentle light that warms any interior. Copper adds a golden glow. A modern classic and winner of the prestigious iF design award.

MAGNUS PETTERSEN
Magnus Pettersen (b.1982) is a Norwegian designer based in London.
Pettersen set up his own design studio in 2011, focusing on furniture, lighting and home accessories, as well as working on more traditional product design.
Pettersen´s work reflects his Norwegian heritage by being functional and utilitarian, but without taking on a stereotypical Scandinavian style.
It often has an industrial feel to it which is softened by mixing in natural materials and warmer colors. Pettersen has created products for Areaware and collaborated on several private projects.
His leimu lamp collection for iittala exemplifies his design philosophy by combining a sturdy concrete BASE with a delicate glass lampshade.
