MONSIEUR FLOOR LAMP

Monsieur's shape evokes a gesture from times gone by: raising one's hat in greeting.
Inspired by a piece of Italian social and cultural history, the lamp maintains a simple, original, and minimalist form that radiates a pleasant atmosphere of light and elegance.
Monsieur is made entirely of steel using artisanal manufacturing techniques; it features a tubular support structure and a removable lampshade.
DESIGNER
MARCO DE MASI
Marco de Masi is an industrial designer from Rome. After completing his training at the IED, in 2010 he joined "The Italian Design Company" as co-founder and designer.
Tidco is an Indian social business design company committed to producing furniture products locally, supporting the activities of the non-profit "Mother and Child Foundation."
After a brief stint in India, he returned to Rome, where since the end of 2013 he has been developing freelance projects, collaborating with companies in the furniture, product, and lighting sectors. "Volta" was recently included in the ADI Design Index 2015 publication and selected to compete for the Compasso d'Oro 2016.
For Officine Tamborrino, he designed the Volta table and the Monsieur lamp. Whether he needs to shatter a pattern, bend reality, or simply color a thought, Guerriero never holds back. He speaks with a vocabulary all his own. Marco de Masi was also recognized in the same year as a design excellence in Lazio.
He loves designing from the concept stage through preparatory drawings and prototypes. And at the same time, he finds it very stimulating to work inside factories and laboratories, so as to develop the product according to technical needs and production requirements.

The lampshade form of Monsieur recalls the ancient gesture of saying hello by lifting one’s own hat. This steel pole lamp inspired by Italian history and tradition retains an essential and original outline which conveys a warm atmosphere of light and elegance.
