Designed by Angelo Mangiarotti, 1978
Drawing influence from architectural shapes and materials, prolific Italian architect Angelo Mangiarotti designed the Lari lamp in a singular piece of mouth blown glass, elevated onto a simple base.
The oversized rectangular form and texture of the glass work together to suggest the slightly industrial appeal of the Lari light.

ANGELO MANGIAROTTI
Italian architect, sculptor and designer Angelo Mangiarotti was born in Milan in 1921. Mangiarotti is quoted to have said, ”Happiness comes from honesty”.
A quote that hints to his overall design approach rooted in the firm belief that architecture was a practical discipline and that industrial design was an expression of fine craftsmanship.
He wanted each individual material to be respected and to be used in an appropriate and honest way. Beyond his many architectural feats, Mangiarotti’s body of work boasts a wide array of creative projects from sculpture, to products and lighting.
Over the course of his career, he held lecturing positions at a number of distinguished design and architecture schools in Italy and abroad, he won numerous awards in both design and architecture, and his work has been included in exhibitions and collections at some of the world’s leading art and design institutions such as Centre Pompidou in Paris, Triennale Design Museum in Milan and Gallery MA in Tokyo.

PRODUCT CARE
GLASS
Glass is an ancient material based on the fusion of silicates and vitrifying substances. Hygienic, recyclable and reusable in many different ways, it is the ideal material for interplays of transparency and sparkle.
- Care : For normal cleaning of glass surfaces, we recommend using clean water or a specially formulated glass cleaner. Then, polish the glass and dry it with a microfibre cloth to prevent spots and streaks.
- Prevention : Do not use abrasive cleaners, corrosive substances – acid or alkaline – because they could damage the surface. It is also advisable to avoid the use of sharp or hard utensils for cleaning because they could cause deep scratches or damage.
ALUMINIUM
Aluminium is a strong metal, recyclable, flexible and, above all, very lightweight. All together, these characteristics make it the ideal material for furnishings that need to be both strong and light. The Cassina catalogue contains two aluminium finishes – anodised and painted.
- Care : To remove dust and fingerprints from aluminium surfaces, we recommend using a clean, soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp one.
- Prevention : For regular deep cleaning of anodised aluminium only, we recommend the use of specific products like metal polish wadding & We recommend avoiding the use of abrasive powders, very harsh products, like ammonia and acetone, furniture wax, acidic detergents, bleach and abrasive pads.
- Methods : To remove spots, simply use a solution of water and mild soap. For greasy spots, we recommend moistening a clean cloth with water and a glasscleaning product or mild detergent, taking care to rinse well.
