Designed for intimate, contemplative settings, Meemo is ideal for bedrooms, reading corners, hotel rooms, or restaurant tables — anywhere soft, ambient light is needed to create a serene atmosphere.
Meemo began as a quiet fascination with time — and the meditative poetry of the hourglass.
That slow, steady fall of sand marking a moment’s passage inspired the idea: what if light could behave like time? Dissolving gently into space, shaping an atmosphere rather than solving a function.
Through an organic, iterative process, the concept evolved. What remains is a form that remembers its origin — a sculptural silhouette with a soft indentation at its center, subtly evoking motion, transition, and presence.
Neither decorative nor austere, Meemo strikes a delicate balance: it doesn’t demand attention, yet it transforms the space around it.
DESIGNER
MICHAEL REM
Designer Michael Rem is based in Berlin and graduated from the University of Fine Arts Saarbrücken, Germany in 2009.
He worked on several projects for renowned design companies before opening his own studio in 2012 and his first collaboration with Gejst in 2017.

All the sounds, colours, forms and events are mixed together in the subconscious with your personality and emotions, so that all of this can be combined to form something new:
A new idea which is extracted from the absorbed old and comes back to the surface of the conscious as images of new products. This is what I term the new simple.
Rem has won and been nominated for numerous design awards throughout his career. Most notably, Meemo Portable, which won the Archiproducts Design Award 2025, as well as a German Design Award he received in 2017 for his design of the Molekyl candleholder.
