Designed by architect Thijs Prinsen of Lens°ass Architects for Serax, this wall lamp is part of the Primary Shape collection, which grew out of a renovation where abundantly reclaimed bricks led Prinsen to design lighting in the same rectangular spirit.
The concrete variant is one of two coloured concrete shades in the collection, chosen to deliver character-filled ambient light that washes the wall and floor beneath it.
As a natural material, minor colour variations between pieces are inherent and part of the character of each lamp.
DESIGNER
THIJS PRINSEN
Thijs Prinsen, architect manager (°1984), received his architect diploma from the Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg in 2007.
He followed the specialisation of visual arts and graduated with a project for a museum aimed at the sensitive experience of the visitor, framed within a master plan execution of the “Tapijnkazerne” in Maastricht and a phenomenological landscape research between Maaseik and Kessenich.
After his studies, he was selected to participate in the “Master’s Trial” under the supervision of the Flemish Construction Master Marcel Smets.
Since 2007, he has worked as an independent architect at Lens°ass Architects, where he became a partner in 2012 and currently leads the agency.
For Serax, he designed a collection of wall lamps that reflects his architectural signature. Inspired by reclaimed bricks from a renovation project, the design features rectangular shapes in coloured concrete and terracotta.

COLLECTION
Architect thijs prinsen, the driving force behind lens°ass architects, has a thing about brick. In a renovation where old bricks were reclaimed abundantly, the idea came about to design wall lighting with the same rectangular shape. His choice landed on coloured concrete in two shades and terracotta to realise the design.
The cone and cylinder shapes are variants and specifically chosen to respond to the demand for character-filled ambient lighting, which illuminates walls and floor nicely. This collection is for indoor use only.
